ഇത്തവണ പുതിയതായി അഡ്വാന്‍സ്ഡ് പോസ്റ്റല്‍ ടെക്‌നോളജി (എ.പി.ടി) സംവിധാനവും സന്നിധാനത്തെ പോസ്റ്റ് ഓഫീസില്‍ ക്രമീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതുവഴി മറ്റേത് പോസ്റ്റ് ഓഫീസിലും ലഭ്യമാകുന്ന സേവനങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടെയും ലഭ്യമാക്കാന്നുണ്ട്. ഭക്തര്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ ഡ്യൂട്ടിയിലുള്ള ജീവനക്കാര്‍ക്കും ഏറെ ഉപകാരപ്രദമാണ് പോസ്റ്റ് ഓഫീസ്. ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ എവിടെയുള്ള ഭക്തര്‍ക്കും തൊട്ടടുത്ത തപാല്‍ ഓഫീസ് വഴി ശബരിമലയിലെ പ്രസാദം ബുക്ക് ചെയ്യാനും അവസരമുണ്ട്.
ഈ സീസണ്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച് ഇതുവരെ ആറായിരത്തോളം പോസ്റ്റ് കാര്‍ഡുകളാണ് ഇവിടെ നിന്ന് അയച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതെന്ന് പോസ്റ്റ് മാസ്റ്ററായ ഷിബു വി. നായര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. എല്ലാ നാട്ടിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള ഭക്തരും കത്തുകളയക്കാൻ പോസ്റ്റ് ഓഫീസിൽ വരാറുണ്ട്. സ്ഥിരമായി വരുന്നവരും പുതിയതായി എത്തുന്നവരും ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. പോസ്റ്റ് മാസ്റ്റര്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ ഒരു പോസ്റ്റുമാന്‍, രണ്ട് മള്‍ടി ടാസ്‌കിംഗ് സ്റ്റാഫ് എന്നിവരാണ് ഇവിടെ സേവനം അനുഷ്ടിക്കുന്നത്.
പോസ്റ്റുമാനുമുണ്ട് പ്രത്യേകത
കഴിഞ്ഞ മൂന്നു വര്‍ഷമായി അയ്യപ്പന്റെ സ്വന്തം പോസ്റ്റ് മാനായി സേവനമനുഷ്ടിക്കുകയാണ് പത്തനംതിട്ട, അടൂര്‍ സ്വദേശിയായ ജി. വിഷ്ണു. ആദ്യമായി ജോലിയില്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതും ശബരിമലയിലാണ്. ഇത്രയും കാലം തുടര്‍ച്ചയായി സന്നിധാനത്തെ പോസ്റ്റ് മാനായി മറ്റാരും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെന്നും തന്റെ സ്വന്തം ആഗ്രഹംകൊണ്ടുകൂടിയാണ് സന്നിധാനത്തെ സേവനം തുടരുന്നത് എന്നും വിഷ്ണു പറയുന്നു.

The post office at Sabarimala started operating in 1963. It remains open for only three months in a year. The postal seal here is also very special. The seal at the Sannidhanam post office features an idol of Ayyappa sitting atop the ‘Pathinettam Padi’ (18 sacred steps).
During this ‘Mandala Makaravilakku’ season too, the post office is very busy. Hundreds of people visit the post office daily to send letters stamped with the Ayyappa seal. Some send the experience of their Sabarimala pilgrimage to their own addresses. Others write to close relatives and friends, wishing them the blessings of the Swami.
This time, the Advanced Postal Technology (APT) system has also been arranged at the Sannidhanam post office. Through this, services available at any other post office are available here as well. The post office is very useful for the devotees as well as the staff on duty. Devotees anywhere in India also have the opportunity to book Sabarimala ‘prasadam’ through their nearest post office.
Postmaster Shibu V. Nair said that around six thousand postcards have been sent from here so far this season. Devotees from all regions come to the post office to send letters. This includes both regular visitors and new arrivals. In addition to the postmaster, one postman and two multi-tasking staff render service here.
The postman also has a specialty
G. Vishnu, a native of Adoor in Pathanamthitta, has been serving as Ayyappan’s dedicated postman for the past three years. This is also the first place he joined service. Vishnu says that no one else has continuously worked as the Sannidhanam postman for this long, and it is his own desire that leads him to continue his service here.
If given the opportunity, he wishes to happily continue his service here in the coming years as well. There are devotees who send the first invitation cards for special functions like weddings in the name of Ayyappan to the Sannidhanam address.
There are also those who send their grievances and requests as letters addressed to Ayyappan. Many people send money orders as well, ranging from small to large amounts. Vishnu said that all the letters and money orders received are duly handed over to the Devaswom Executive Officer
