രാജ്യത്തെ ബഹിരാകാശ സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യയുടെ വികസനത്തിന് നൽകിയ സംഭാവനകൾക്കുള്ള അം​ഗീകാരമായി വിജ്ഞാൻ ശ്രീ പുരസ്കാരമാണ് ഐ എസ് ആർ ഒയിലെ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ ശ്രീ ജയനെ തേടിയെത്തിയത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരം പേരൂർക്കട മണ്ണാമൂല സ്വദേശിയായ അദ്ദേഹം നിലവിൽ വിക്രം സാരാഭായ് സ്‌പേസ് സെന്ററിൽ നെക്സ്റ്റ് ജനറേഷൻ ലോഞ്ച് വെഹിക്കിളിന്റെ പ്രോജക്ട് ഡയറക്ടറാണ്. നേരത്തെ ലിക്വിഡ് പ്രൊപ്പൽഷൻ സിസ്റ്റംസ് സെന്ററിൽ ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി ഡയറക്ടർ സ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം, ജി.എസ്.എൽ.വിയിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യ തദ്ദേശീയ ക്രയോജനിക് എഞ്ചിന്റെ രൂപകൽപ്പനയിലും വികസനത്തിലും നിർണായക പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

 

ജി.എസ്.എൽ.വി എം.കെ.111 റോക്കറ്റിന് കരുത്ത് പകരുന്ന സി.ഇ.20 ക്രയോജനിക് എഞ്ചിൻ വികസിപ്പിച്ച സംഘത്തെ അദ്ദേഹം നയിച്ചിരുന്നു. വ്യത്യസ്ത തരം വിക്ഷേപണ വാഹനങ്ങൾക്കായുള്ള ലിക്വിഡ് പ്രൊപ്പൽഷൻ സിസ്റ്റങ്ങളുടെ വികസനത്തിന് നൽകിയ മികച്ച സംഭാവനകൾ കണക്കിലെടുത്താണ് പുരസ്കാരം നൽകുന്നത്.

 

തിരുവനന്തപുരം കോളേജ് ഓഫ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗിൽ നിന്ന് മെക്കാനിക്കൽ എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗിൽ ബിടെക്കും, ബാംഗ്ലൂരിലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് സയൻസിൽ നിന്ന് എയ്‌റോസ്‌പേസ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദവും സ്വർണ മെഡൽ നേടിയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പാസായത്. എയറോനോട്ടിക്കൽ സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ നൽകുന്ന സ്‌പേസ് ഗോൾഡ് മെഡൽ, ഐ.എസ്.ആർ.ഒ ടീം അവാർഡുകൾ തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഭാര്യ ശോഭ ജയൻ വാർത്താ വിതരണ പ്രക്ഷേപണ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന് കീഴിലുള്ള സെൻട്രൽ ബ്യൂറോ ഓഫ് കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷനിൽ സീനിയർ അക്കൗണ്ട്സ് ഓഫീസറാണ്, മകൾ ശ്വേത ബാം​ഗ്ലൂരിൽ സോഫ്റ്റ് വെയർ എഞ്ചിനീയറും, മകൻ സിദ്ധാർത്ഥ് സ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാർഥിയുമാണ്.

Malayali Scientist Jayan N Honoured with Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar for Excellence in Science and Technology

 

konnivartha.com; Malayali scientist  Jayan N, honoured with Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, the nation’s highest honors in the field of science and technology. Shri Jayan has been conferred the Vigyan Shri Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to India’s space technology development.

Jayan currently serves as the Project Director for the Next Generation Launch Vehicle at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Previously, he held the position of Deputy Director at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre. He played a pivotal role in the design and development of India’s first indigenous cryogenic engine used in the GSLV program.Jayan also led the team that developed the CE-20 cryogenic engine, which powers the GSLV Mk III (LVM3) launch vehicle, India’s most powerful rocket to date.

The Vigyan Shri Award recognizes his exceptional contributions to the advancement of liquid propulsion systems for various launch vehicles, a key component in strengthening India’s self-reliance in space technology.

Jayan earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, and his Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, where he graduated with a gold medal. Over the years, he has received numerous accolades, including the Space Gold Medal from the Aeronautical Society of India and multiple ISRO Team Awards.

The honor bestowed upon Jayan N stands as a proud moment for Kerala and for India’s space science community, celebrating decades of dedicated service to the nation’s space endeavours.
