കൃത്യമായ രഹസ്യ വിവരത്തിൻ്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ഡിആർഐ കൊച്ചി മേഖലാ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന് കീഴിലെ കോഴിക്കോട് പ്രാദേശിക കേന്ദ്രത്തിലെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ യാത്രക്കാരനെ തടയുകയും ഡയപ്പർ പാക്കറ്റിൽ ഒളിപ്പിച്ച നിലയിൽ 974.5 ഗ്രാം ഭാരംവരുന്ന 19 പാക്കറ്റ് ക്രിസ്റ്റൽ മെത്താംഫെറ്റമിൻ കണ്ടെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര കരിഞ്ചന്തയിൽ ഏകദേശം 1.95 കോടി രൂപ വിലവരുന്ന മയക്കുമരുന്നുകളാണ് ഇയാള്‍ ചെക്ക്-ഇൻ ബാഗേജിൽ ഒളിപ്പിച്ച് കടത്തിയത്. മയക്കുമരുന്ന് ലഹരിപദാര്‍ത്ഥ (എന്‍ഡിപിഎസ്) നിയമപ്രകാരം അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത ഇയാളെ ജുഡീഷ്യൽ കസ്റ്റഡിയിൽ റിമാൻഡ് ചെയ്തു.
മയക്കുമരുന്നിൻ്റെ ഉറവിടം കണ്ടെത്താനും കടത്തിലുള്‍പ്പെട്ട വലിയ ശൃംഖലയെ തിരിച്ചറിയാനും അന്വേഷണം പുരോഗമിക്കുകയാണ്.
കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാറിൻ്റെ ‘നശാ മുക്ത് ഭാരത്’ (മയക്കുമരുന്ന് രഹിത ഇന്ത്യ) ആശയത്തിൻ്റെ ഭാഗമായി റവന്യൂ ഇൻ്റലിജൻസ് ഡയറക്ടറേറ്റ് (ഡിആര്‍ഐ) കൊച്ചി മേഖലാകേന്ദ്രത്തിൻ്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ഹൈഡ്രോപോണിക് വീഡ്, മെത്താംഫെറ്റാമിൻ, കൊക്കെയ്ൻ എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ 45 കോടി രൂപ വിലവരുന്ന മയക്കുമരുന്നുകളും ലഹരിപദാര്‍ത്ഥങ്ങളുമാണ് നടപ്പുസാമ്പത്തിക വർഷം സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് പിടിച്ചെടുത്തത്. ഈ കേസുകളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഏഴ് പേരെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
DRI continues crackdown on narcotics trafficking: Crystal Methamphetamine Seizure at Calicut International Airport.
konnivartha.com; In yet another successful operation as part of its sustained crackdown on narcotic drug trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) apprehended a Thrissur native passenger who arrived at Calicut International Airport from Muscat on Thursday, November 6th, 2025. Acting on specific intelligence, the officers of Calicut Regional Unit of DRI Cochin Zonal Unit intercepted the passenger and recovered a total of 19 packets, weighing 974.5 grams, containing Crystal Methamphetamine. The narcotics, with an estimated value of approximately 1.95 crore in the illicit international market, were found to have been concealed by the passenger in his checked-in-baggage in a diaper packet. The passenger was subsequently arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and have been remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotics and to identify the broader network involved in this smuggling operation.
In line with the Government of India’s vision of a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ (Drug-Free India), the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Cochin Zonal Unit, has, in the current financial year, seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS), including hydroponic weed, methamphetamine, and cocaine, valued at 45 crores in Kerala. In connection with these seizures, seven individuals have been arrested.
