
konnivartha.com: International courier cargo terminals have been set up in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. At a function held at Shankhumukham Air Cargo Terminal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State Industries and Commerce Minister P. Rajeev inaugurated the terminals in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Thiruvananthapuram Zone CGST & Customs Chief Commissioner Sheikh Khader Rahman inaugurated the terminal.
Minister P. Rajeev appreciated the crucial role that modern courier cargo facilities play in enhancing Kerala’s global trade competitiveness and supporting the industrial growth of the state. The Minister also thanked the Customs Department for its support in granting in-principle approval for the International Courier Terminal at Thiruvananthapuram.
Chief Commissioner CGST & Customs Sheikh Khader Rahman said that this will greatly benefit the families of expatriate Malayalis and will encourage cross-border e-commerce for sellers based in Kerala.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) had notified 13 international airports including Kochi, Calicut and Thiruvananthapuram as international courier terminals. So far, courier facilities were available only at Kochi airport in Kerala.
The presence of these three international courier terminals will enhance Kerala’s trade infrastructure, facilitate efficient global logistics, and further strengthen the state’s role as a hub for industrial and commercial progress.
Thiruvananthapuram MLA Antony Raju, Kondotty MLA T.V. Ibrahim, Vallikunnu MLA P. Abdul Hameed, KSIE Chairman Peelipos Thomas and others were present at the function.
